We have an incredible lineup of talented songwriters, an amazing venue with delicious food, and some additional fun goodies for attendees!
🌟If you haven’t heard yet, Songwriters Showcase is a part of Tennessee Songwriter’s Week - a celebration of local songwriters, their craft, and the stories they tell. Music is such a huge part of Tennessee’s history and culture, and want to celebrate that!

🎶Songwriters Showcase is almost here, and we can hardly wait! Let’s take a look at our newest performer.
🪕🎵Mitch Townley is an award-winning singer/songwriter from Knoxville who writes in the Country, Christian Country, Folk and Inspirational genres. He has more than 70 independent artist cuts, a song featured in a documentary about the Vietnam Memorial, and a song in the network TV show "Nashville."
Townley’s song “This Side Of Sunday” (co-written with Scott Parker) was recorded by Brent Harrison and spent eight weeks in the Number 1 spot on the Christian Country Countdown in 2018. In 2019, it received the award for “Inspirational Country Song of the Year” from the Inspirational Country Music Association in a ceremony at the Grand Ole Opry.
In addition to performing in songwriter rounds, Townley is part of the folk/acoustic duo "At The Jukebox" that performs at senior living facilities. He founded the Townsend Abbey First Friday Songwriter Night in 2020 and is a coordinator of the Knoxville chapter of the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI).

🎶Are you ready for Songwriter’s Showcase yet? Let’s take a look at our next performer!
🪕🎵Karen Bowles lives in Knoxville and is a board member of the Knoxville Songwriters Association. She writes Gospel, Country, Blues, Bluegrass and Children’s songs. She was a co-writer of “Appalachian Blue,” a Bluegrass hit for Kristy Cox that earned a Grammy nomination and also topped the music charts in Cox’s native Australia.
“The News That Never Changes,” another song Bowles has co-written with Salley, Lauver, and Johnston, will be released this spring by The King James Boys, a leading Bluegrass Gospel group
Bowles was a radio announcer and DJ at Dolly Parton’s WDLY. She also has worked as a producer at Gannaway Productions and a video producer at the Louise Mandrell Theater.

🎶Songwriter’s Showcase is coming up soon, and we want to get to know our performers. Let’s have a look at the artists behind the event!
🪕🎵David Haley Lauver is a Farragut resident who is the education and public relations director of the Knoxville Songwriters Association.
Along with Jerry Salley, Karen Bowles, and Bobby Johnston, Lauver was a co-writer of Nashville recording artist Kristy Cox’s “Appalachian Blue.” The hit Bluegrass single received a “Roots Music” Grammy nomination. He also worked with Donna Ulisse and Ali Shumate to write “Jezebel,” which reached #1 on the Bluegrass charts.
In 2014, Lauver was named to the East Tennessee Writers Hall of Fame. He has performed at Nashville’s Tin Pan South Music Festival and North Carolina’s “Merlefest,” where he was a five-time finalist in the Chris Austin national songwriting competition.
